If health care might be interesting to you, pursuing a career in that field is quite often available when others are not. There are many choices here, several will require a substantial amount of training, others only minimal or on the job training. To become a medical secretary, you’ll need to be well versed in computer programs, including word processing, spreadsheets and database management. As a medical secretary, your main duties will involve running the office as smoothly as you can, by making sure that all of the medical records are up to date. You will need to interact with the patients, as well as the doctors, as part of your duties, whether your work is in a doctor’s office, a hospital, or another type of institution. Since you’ll need a good familiarity with medical terminology and procedures, it’s helpful to have at least an Associate’s degree.
If you like to teach and want a health related job, you might think about becoming a health educator.
There are many jobs in this field, and you might work for a governmental agency, a school, corporation or a community organization. Health educators teach people about all sorts of health related topics like the dangers of smoking, STDs, substance abuse, pregnancy, high blood pressure and lots of other problems. You will have the satisfaction of understanding that you are teaching people about things that are very important to their health and their well being. In order to become a health educator you need a degree in community or public health or a similar/related field. You also need to pass a test to get your Health Education Specialist Certification.
Health careers are truly popular these days and if you are interested in these types of jobs, there are plenty of places that you can go if you want more information. To use one example, you might think about checking out the programs at your local community colleges. Something else to check into is accredited internet programs. You may find that a health related job is the next step in your career path.
