The Legend That Is Bill Gates
Many people hate Bill Gates. Are you one of them?
If you are, you might want to rethink that position. Bill Gates is a very generous man and does great things in the world. Do you know how much money his foundation, The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, donates to different causes every year? Try 1.5 billion dollars. You have to admit, that is a number that boggles the mind. That is how much he gives away, every single year.
Bill Gates used to be with Microsoft of course, but he recently retired. He decided to retire so that he could spend his life doing charitable work through his foundation. Despite all this, some people who are the type to be negative and judgmental still think he’s an asshole.
Now, no way is Microsoft the perfect company. But the perfect company doesn’t exist! Microsoft is a lot less evil than many companies in corporate America.
Personally I have nothing but respect for Bill Gates and also for Microsoft. It is amazing that he started this company and built it up from nothing to become the huge successful entity that it is.
Let’s be realists here. You can’t give to others if you have nothing. If Bill Gates had not started out taking, he would have had nothing to give. Who would have benefitted if he had been humble instead of ambitious? Nobody.
Bill Gates was smart enough to get that. He is a brilliant man, and he built a corporation so impressive that he could then become a real force for change in the world. Instead of sitting around complaining about how he has all this money, maybe ask yourself what you are doing to make the world a better place.
Do you contribute to AIDS research? Work to reduce world hunger? Bill Gates does. He dedicates his life to making the lives of others better.
There’s no point resenting other people. It’s just self-defeating. Think about it. If you believe that rich people are bad people because they are greedy and selfish, and you believe that you are a good person, how do you think you will ever become rich? Won’t you be subconsciously self-defeating, since you don’t think you are the ‘type’ of person who becomes rich?
